If you're inquiring about the Gallery at the end of the Accademia bridge, you will not likely need to buy tickets in advance. Every time I've visited there haven't been any lines to buy tickets or tour the gallery.
Save yourself the trouble of searching the web and paying commissions.

When will you be in Venice? I have seen long lines at the Accademia in high season.

The official Web site adds a reservation fee of 1 Euro; for most of the important Italian museums the reservation fee is 3 or 4 Euro...

I was this past August in Venice. It was packed with tourists but we had no problem/lines to go into Accademia. The only place I would make a reservation (and I think it's free) is to go into Saint Mark's .

This morning, 2nd January 2011, the line was about 30 metres long. Ditto for the Doge's Palace.

Oh yes, the Doges Palace line is always long too. We had a group visit there so were able to bypass the line.
