Waterloo or Paddington ?

We are going to church services at Westminister Abbey from 10 am to 10:40am. Then we are going to Windsor Castle. Would we be better off riding the underground from Westminister to Waterloo and catch the train to Windsor or ride the underground from Westminister to Paddington and catch the train to Windsor? We are closer to Waterloo, but Paddington is closer to Windsor.

Paddington is the best station for Windsor. Take the train to Windsor/Eton and walk up to the castle. Right outside the main entrance to the castle (halfway down the small side-street on the left) is a great (old!) place for tea or a meal. Believe it's called the King's Arms. We were just there in March. If you get a chance, attend Evensong at either the Abbey or St. Pauls.

Pam , that brings up another question: do we take the Windsor/Eton Central or Windsor/Eton Riverside?

From Westminster Abbey, I would just walk across the Westminster Bridge, past the County Hall to Waterloo Station. The choice of which station you arrive at is predetermined by which station you leave from.

So, Waterloo station is just walking distance from Westminister Abbey??

Normally I would send you to Paddington and you'd end up at Windsor Central. But Westminster Abbey is directly across the river and then a short walk to Waterloo. So Waterloo to Windsor Riverside makes a lot more sense. (Westminster to Paddington by tube would take longer than walking over to Waterloo and the views from Westminster bridge are great)

I don't know why my message keeps coming up! I only put it in one time! I am sorry - it makes me look like an idiot. I am so glad to hear that Waterloo is so close to Westminister Abbey. And I go to Windsor erside and not Windsor Central? ( I hope this message only comes up once ! ) LOL

Well, I just looked on the web site for rail.co.uk and saw the answer to this question. If you leave from Paddington you end up at Central and if you leave from Waterloo you end up at Riverside. So I will take your advise and walk across the bridge and get on the Waterloo.
