Water Taxi prices in Venice

but they may have surcharges for extra pieces of luggage, after midnight, airport pick-up, etc. etc.

the amount you see on the meter may not be the actual charge.

Yes, they are per taxi - not per person. But there is a limit to how many people and how much luggage you can put in one taxi. They are definitely more expensive than vaporettos or alligunas - but per haps similar to bus and vaporetto from the airport if you have 5 or 6 people.

We always use them - love the ambiance. But it's not a bargain.

Ok, when I wrote this, I thought we would be arriving at Venice Airport, now things have changed and we will be arriving by car.

Where do we leave the car? Do we still take the water taxi to our hotel, or is there another way?

You will leave your car at the parking garage at Piazzale Roma, at the end of the causeway from the mainland.

Or, if it's a rental car you can return it at the same location and pick up a new car for your onward journey if you wish.

From Piazzale Rome to your hotel you can go by foot, by water taxi, or by water bus (vaporetto). Which is best depends on the location of your hotel with respect to Pzle Roma, location of your hotel with respect to a vaporetto stop, number of people & amount of baggage, and your own mobility (as in ability to schlep your bags up and down the steps over bridges).

The vaporetto cost 6.50 euro per person for 1 stop or 20 stops.
