Watching the Tour de France finals.
Much more trip report will be coming later, when I'm not on this odd French keyboard, but have to say that standing for hours in the rain today and then the sun to watch the final 10 laps coming around Concorde sure made me proud to be an American. And I love it that Lance Armstrong does all his local interviews in French!!!
Agreed!!! Also here Hamiltons relatives in three homes have huge banners saying
ALLEZ HAMILTON! I thought that a neat touch. |
We also watched Lance with pride from Austin, Texas.
Oh, and you Texans will be happy to know that yesterday the American Embassy in Paris was flying the Texas flag atop!!
It was a fabulous Tour, wasn't it!? While Lance deserves major kudos, that Tyler Hamilton was amazing. I get wait to get on my bike this weekend and ride like the wind.
OLN had an interview with Lance last night where he mentioned the brake had been on for five hours durng stage 8.
Did anyone else hear that or was I half asleep? |
JackieA - it's true. His brake was engaged during the stage. That would explain why he didn't do his usual breakway during the climb. The man is unbelievable.
You weren't asleep! It's just amazing about the break. And I also agreed with Lance that it didn't appear that Jan was slowing down to wait for him on Stage 15 until Tyler (my new hero) did the "sig alert" to slow the front pack down. Again, what an amazing race. I'm hoping to catch some of the Tour de Spain while I'm there in a few weeks.
