Watching MLB games in Dublin?
The hubby and I will be in Ireland for 2 weeks starting this Saturday!
We'll be in Dublin for the first few days and are die-hard Red Sox fans. do you know of any pubs/bars that might broadcast American sports? I don't even care if it's the most touristy place ever, as long as I can watch my hometown boys on opening day. Thanks in advance. GO SOX! |
The chances are about the same as your local bar showing matches in the National Hurling League.

Actually, there are quite a few local San Francisco taverns that have hurling on Sentanta Sports. |
Hurling in a tavern goes on frequently when the patron can’t hold his liquor.
|
My local Irish pub does show some hurling matches.

Even if baseball was popular, east coast night games would start at 12:30 a.m. in Ireland.
Hey - it is a looooong season, you can bear to miss a few early season games. Sure opening day is important, but the first day of the playoffs is more so . . . . . |
|
Oh yeah, I know I can afford to miss opening day (I would never travel during a possible post season time)....but just thought it would be fun. And opening day is at 2:30 pm on Monday, which would be 8:30pm in Dublin (right)?
Oh well, it was just a thought.... Thanks everyone |
Yeah - I figured the opener is a day game - my comment was more re other games that week.
There are some sports bars in Dublin w/ satellite TV - but whether they would allocate a TV to a basball game is pretty iffy. You can always ask the barman - but don't get your hopes too high. |
MLB is mainly carried by (Channel) 5 in UK, which people in Ireland can receive by satellite. Satellite broadcaster BSkyB also has a channel for North American Games (NASN, by Setanta).
|
I am not sure you read my post. Yes, you can watch your game live through the internet. I watch all my Mets games. I am also taking my laptop with me and will watch some games in France and Spain (I'll be away for several months).
|
Not much of a fan if you're out of town on Opening Day! Just kidding! We scheduled our honeymoon around the Astros opening day last year. We drove to Houston, went to opening day and then left for Rome the next morning! We'll be at opening day againg this year, but, unfortunatley, not Italy.

You will not find i6 and the most we offer in a few places would be football in the winter. Sorry it's just not popular here.
|
My friends in Dublin watch both the Yankees and Sox regularly on tv in their homes. It is always same day coverage but very late night though, after midnight into the wee hours. I can check and see what channel, but I doubt you'd be able to find some place open late enough to watch.
