Watches in Lucern or Basel?

Greetings, Swiss buffs,
Two years ago, I bought a really nice watch in Basel at Bucherer's - thanks to all of you. This year, we will be in Basel as well as Lucerne and Wengen. Can any of you recommend a place in Lucerne? I seem to remember that you said prices were bettr in Lucerne.
Thanks.

If you did like Bucherer, it's main shop/head quarter is in Lucerne at Schwanen Platz. As to " prices were bettr in Lucerne". I have no idea. The prices are pretty much the same anywhere especially inside these Bucherer chain shops with the same duty free (VAT deduction) conditions. They might offer you discounts if you pay in cash instead of with credit cards.

And I just read on other thread that you would be staying in Bern for one night too. There is a Bucherer shop there too though I've never been inside. I imagine it would be smaller than the one in Lucerne.

I was the one who recommended Bucherer's in Basel--I'm so glad you found one. But I'm also jealous! I was working in Basel for a while and I used to pass the Bucherer store on my walk home every day. I wanted one but it wasn't in the budget.
What kind did you choose? Did you find there was a real price advantage to getting it in Basel vs. the U.S. (or wherever your home is)? It's still on my wish list...

I bought a Bucherer at Interlaken about five years ago. Fantastic watch--never missed a beat. From what I could determine, prices were the same in Lucerne, Berne, and Zurich.

Cheers,

Greetings,all,
Yes, I love my watch from Bucherer in Basle. It has a stainless steel watch band with a blue watch face. I puchased it for about $400 two years ago. Now I am looking for a two-toned watch band.
Thanks for all your help.

Also, it wasn't that I found the watches cheaper in Switzerland, it was that you just don't see their styles in the US at all (or I haven't). Of course, I didn't want to spend $10,000 on a watch.
Thanks again.

My brother almost bought a watch when we were in Lucerne. It was a little over 1,000 american. He didn't buy it and got the same watch later in the year at Costco for around 900.00. I don't know what the brand was but if you have a particular brand in mind you might check out the prices in the states if it's available here.
