Warsaw or????
 

In March I am going to Vienna. I want to see Poland as well. I was wondering are there any of those high speed trains from Vienna to Warsaw? Also are there any cool cities in Poland that are closer to Vienna?

I was in Poland this summer and spent a few days in Poland and a few in Krakow. If given a choice I would much rather go back to Krakow than Warsaw. Krakow was a wonderful little town, with plenty of things to see and do. Krakow is located in southern Poland, and is much closer to Vienna than traveling further north to Warsaw. No matter which city you go to have a great time!

Krakow is also the closest city to Auswitch. Poland has no high speed (bullet) trains yet to my knowledge.

Adam: <BR> <BR>I agree with Mitch. Krakow is a really nice city, with a very beautiful town square. I was there a month ago, and wished that I would have had more time to see all of the sights. I haven't been to Warsaw for a couple of decades, so I really can't coment on what it's like now, although I have heard from people that it is quite nice, as well. <BR> <BR>As far as the trains go, Art is probably right -- I don't believe that Poland has any "bullet" trains, as of yet. I don't know if you can afford it, but Austrian Airlines has some great deals to Poland. It's about an hour from Krakow or Katowice to Vienna, and the service was EXCELLENT!!! If you are willing to spend a little more, I highly recommend you consider flying, as you will save some time. <BR> <BR>FYI: When I was there, I found some giant down pillows (1 almost covers 1/4 of the bed!) that were around $18/each! I have never seen pillows this big anywhere here in the states, and even if you found someone who made them, they'd probably be at least $75 a pillow or higher. Believe me, the last thing I thought I'd get when I was in Europe was pillows (!), but I bought 2 of them, and am really glad I did! <BR> <BR>Hope you have a wonderful time in Europe! Read my lips. . .KRACKOW! We spent time this summer in Vienna, Prague, Krackow, Warsaw, and Gdansk, and there is no comparison. Krackow is where it is right now!!! Beautiful town square, wonderful atmosphere, friendy people, superb food, Auschwitz, the salt mines. . . I could go on and on.

Dear Adam: <BR>Please think again about visiting Warsaw or Krakow in March. The worst time to visit Poland is in March. It is so beautiful in Warsaw, Krakow, and Gdansk in May or September. But March? Never again. Brrrrrrrr.....

OOPS! Hope you are reading my lips, that way you won't realize I didn't spell Krakow correctly. Honestly, I'm not that dumb, guess I just got carried away thinking about that wonderful city.

Dear Adam .First choice is Krakow but if you want to do something different head to Wroclaw(breslau in german) .You wont regret it .Good luck.

No fast trains, but resonable, It is pretty cold in March. I went twice in March, 1999 AND 2000 both times the end of March and first week of April, I had to to bundle up everytime I went out. I do not get cold easy. I am going back again, but this time in May or June. Have fun!!
