I don't think I'd go out of my way to apply for the refund and usually never really spent enough in one place for them to do the paperwork but in Paris it just kind of fell into my lap at Galerie Lafayet. I wasn't trying to spend any particular amount of money but when I was through shopping..I guess it was that Lanvin cashmere scarf that put me over the top so to speak..i went up to the top floor and had the paper work done...it was really easy, the airport thing took just a few minutes and I got 66.00 credit on my charge about a month later. It's finally cold enough here to wear that scarf again so tonight I'm going out to dinner and that scarf will be around my neck. Oh yea...I also got the visiter card so got 10% off all the purchases anyway. lacontessa, so sorry your experience wasn't a good one.

I don't bother. I did the first time. Mailed the forms and heard nothing.

Well, I guess I''m just lucky...got my refund in a month, didn't see or step in any doggie doo, never had any surley waiters, didn't see any men peeing on the side of a building...gee, I must live under a star or my angel pins are working!!!!! LOL

Lol, I agree, except for that one time, and I'm sure I may have made some mistake. I didn't see or experience any of those complaints, but along the roads in the countryside, I did see lots of folk airing out...

Just heard back from a new Paris guidebook writer: "PS Have had bad experiences with tax refund myself; of *course* they want to keep their money in France! Next time you?ll be prepared."
