warning about Airport Connection Service in Rome

I am writing to warn fellow travelers about a Limo company in Rome called Airport Connection Service. Not only are they unreliable, but they engage in fraud. Under no circumstances should you give them a credit card number.
When I was in Rome in February I hired this company to pick me up from the airport, and then bring me back to the airport a few days later.
During my first ride with them everything was fine, and I charged the bill to my credit card.
However, when they came to pick me up at my hotel at the end of the trip they were almost 45 minutes late, and came not with the Mercedes I reserved, but with a dirty van. Because I almost missed my flight I paid the driver in cash.
A few weeks later they charged this ride to the credit card I originally gave them. I refuted the charge, and my credit card company credited my account.
This month I was shocked to see that this Limo company put 2 more charges on the same card, both for "rides" on the same day in June.Needless to say I was here in the US on that day.I had to cancel my card and issue a new one so this would not occur again.
My credit card company is now investigating Airport Connection Service.

Please be warned.

Hi ago, thanks for the warning. What a mess! I have never heard of this service but your warning will be read by most of the Fodor's on the Europe Board I would think. Take care.

We used this service in Rome recently. They were on time. The problem was, the driver was very young, drove very fast (!), and, I'm not making this up, actually dozed off for a second while driving. YIKES. We did not have any trouble with billing.

For travelers who are looking for reliable airport transportation in Rome, many, many people on this board have been very satisfied (as have I) with Andrea's service at www.limoservicerome.com/ Be careful when typing the URL, because there's a company at www.limoservicesrome.com (note the s</b that does not get good reviews.

I understand that limoservicesrome has done a recent management overhall and that their service and tours have improved dramatically. Might be worth giving them another try.

I would never do business again with a company that fraudulently charged costs for non-delivered services or goods onto a credit card. They may change their spots - or it may be like the restaurants that keep going bankrupt - and then reopenng in the same place under the ownership of a cousin or brother in law.

And thanks for the warning - a very appropriate one considering the egregious actions of the business involved.

I used them last year. They were okay, but could have been better.
We met them at the airport, but we were returning a rental car there. They tried hard to find us and waited quite a while. A very young man picked us up in a van (a bit dirty)-it was a Merecedes though. I think their e-mail guaranteed being picked up by a Merecedes, so I guess technically they did as promised.
We were picked up by a nice Merecedes sedan early for our return to the airport, but the driver said that he didn't have the credit card machine, so he could only take cash. Fortuantly, I had enough Euros left.
One of the reasons I chose them was the credit card option. Most of the other firms would take a cc for reserving, but not for payment.
