For those seeking budget accommodation in Avignon, France a word of warning:<BR><BR>Do NOT book accommodation at 'La Madeleine' on the internet and expect the terms agreed upon to be adhered to by the owner, Mme Curtat.<BR><BR>We had a confirmed booking for a studio apartment for three nights at 48 Euros a night. Whe we arrived, the price had gone up to 80 Euros and the third night was cancelled. We were unfortunately not in a position to refuse the accommodation as we arrived late in the evening, were extremely tired from a 900 km drive from Italy etc.<BR><BR>Ref: &lt;la [email protected]&gt;<BR><BR>Harzer<BR><BR><BR><BR>

If you had made hotel reservations through Logis de France, your room rate would have been guaranteed. You also would have a place to complain to if need be. Our three week tour in 2000 went without a hitch using Logis hotels.

Oh Harzer, that is so unlucky. I always do wonder about the integrity of some people. So far I've been lucky that all agreements have been adhered to. I used to be quite particular about having things in writing but because of the constant smooth sailing of bookings I have been pretty slack of late.<BR><BR>I hope that your other places went a lot smoother. <BR><BR>It is so annoying though, when this happens!!<BR><BR>Thanks for posting about it.<BR><BR>-brownie.

Did you have confirmation in an email or fax? Did you pay by credit card? You could dispute the charges with your CC Company.
