wanting to get to Bellagio

Just need a little help working out my day trip from Milan to Bellagio. Wondering if it is possible to travel from Milan by train to Lecco then take a ferry to Bellagio and would it be possible to have a few hours in Como before returning to Milan by evening. thanks gentle

You take a train to Varenna and then the ferry to Bellagio. Buy a round trip ticket as there is no ticket office in Varenna.

Or you can take a boat from Bellagio to Como and then return to Milan by train.

You don't say when you're going but in September the last train from Como to Milan is at 23:23 and takes an hour.

Of many ways to get to Bellagio, Lecco is neither the fastest way nor the one with frequent boat service.
Look at www.trenitalia.it for train, www.navigazionelaghi.it/eng/c_orari.asp for boat.

The fast way to Bellagio is by train from Milano Centrale to Varenna-Esino, then ferry, either by frequent car ferry or passenger boat to Bellagio. You can retrace the same path back to Milano, boat to Como then train from Como to Milan using Como S. Giovanni station via www.trenitalia.it or Como Lago station closer to the Como boat dock via www.trenord.it/it-it/. If you start your day early in Milan, you can walk around Bellagio, have lunch there and visit Villa Carlotta or Villa Balbianello before getting to Como city to catch train from one of the two train stations. You have to really study the boat schedule.
