Want to see a soccer match in August

Will be travelling at the end of August, and trying to find out if there is any soccer to be seen at that time of year. Any suggestions would be helpful

I see that you have posted (more or less) this same question a second time not even two hours later - - quite likely because you weren't sure how to find this (or any of your other) post(s).

Click on your own name - - this is a valuable tip that Fodors fails to tell you when they send you that initial e-mail confirming your registration.

Best wishes,

Rex

The soccer season in the U.K. starts about mid-August and the majority of the games are played on Saturdays. Every major city has at least one team and you should have no difficulty seeing a game.

There are also mid week games - usually Wednesday evenings, which may be easier to get tickets for.

You can buy tickets directly from the clubs themselves, either from the ticket office at the stadium or online. You won't be able to get tickets for Arsenal or Chelsea unless you want to pay a load of money from a tout (they're just too popular), but you should be able to secure tickets for Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur or West Ham. These are all premier league teams.

Here's links to all the main London teams:

Don't disregard games in the lower leagues. Teams to look out for include QPR, Brentford, Crystal Palace, Orient and my team Watford which is at the end of the Metropolitan Line but needs all the help it can get! Avoid Millwall.

www.bbc.co.uk/sport is a wonderfully comprehensive site.
