Walking Tours of Rome

We've enjoy walking tours like London Walks. Does anyone know of similar English speaking tours in Rome? Is it necessary to take a tour of the Vatican?
Thanks!

I think a Vatican tour would add to your enjoyment of it but it's certainly not necessary to take any tour.

I've done Enjoy Rome and Context. Context is great but expensive. Enjoy Rome would be similar to London Walks.

We just got back from rome and if you are to tour the vatican you can get a tour audio radio for about 5 Euros and all you do is press the number coressponding with wath you are looking at and it will explain it to you in whatever language you want.
If you are touring on your own; if you start from piazza del popolo and follow via del corso(a pedestrian street )you will hit almost all of the sights on the left and right of this street(follow a map), trevi fountain, spanish steps ,Piazza Navone, Pantheon, and further down you will come to the Monument to the unknown soldier and from there the Roman ruins and the Colloseum, and other sites.
Good luck

My husband and I were in Rome in July and we used Angel Tours. We took one of the Vatican and one of the Forum/Coliseum. They were small groups (8-10) and very informative.
