Walking tours of Gamla Stan?

We will be in Stockholm for 2 days. I know we can see Gamla Stan on our own, but does anyone kow where we can find a walking tour guide for Gamla Stan? I have done these walking tours in other cities and really enjoy them.

If anyone has taken a walking tour of Gamla Stan, please tell who you used and how you enjoyed it.

Thanks!

Ginny

I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for, but we used the self-guided walking tour in Rick Steves' book and enjoyed it very much.

We are heading Stockholm for 3 days as part of our Europe tour too. The below is extracted from Frommers Guides.... might be helpful.

Old Town Strolls -- Authorized guides lead 1 1/2-hour walking tours of the medieval lanes of Stockholm's Old Town. These walks are conducted daily from the first of June until mid-August, departing from the Royal Opera House at Gustav Adolfs Torg. The cost is 80SEK ($8.50). Tickets and times of departure are available from Stockholm Sightseeing, Skeppsbron 22 (tel. 08/587-140-20).

fOsh,

Thanks for the tip. I am now inquiring into private guides for a day, as well. I know it will be very expensive but I just emailed the guide booking place from www.stockholmtown.com to find out more about a private guide. I am just curious on how they work and how much they charge.

If not, I will definitely hook up with the Gamla Stan walking tours.

Where else are you going?

hi ginny,
well, i'm actually still sweating over the cost of the lodging. Hee... but did manage to find some affordable apartments at http://www.stockholmguesthouse.com/.

But anyway, read briefly and believe I would be heading to Lake Malaren and probably to the Vasa Ship Museum (though i'm not really into museums). Also researching for a day tour to see the Stockholm archipelago.

Do check out the Frommers Guide. I think its quite extensive.
