Walking Tours in Vienna

I have found a number of different "walking" tours for vienna on web sites I cant verify: one looks great 21 different places in the center of town; another talks about following the steps of "Sisi" but details are lacking jsut a space to prepay. I would like to find more details on both. Thank yopu. Jack

If one is a film buff, then I very highly recomend the Third Man tour. The Third Man was named by the British Film Institute as the best British film of the 20th Century. The tour visits perhaps a dozen filming sites in the city and lasts about 2 to 2-1/2 hours, and when I took the tour in 2006, ended with a bit of strudel and a zither performance of the Third Man Theme.

It was a highlight of my visit and encouraged me (an acrophobe) to take a ride on the Riesenrad in the Prater Park.

Can you give us links to these 2 walking tours?

Here's the link to the Third Man tour I took.

Dr. Timmermann's son conducted the tour. He was quite engaging and humorous. I even splurged (optional, of course--in fact I purchased it after the fact of the tour at Vienna's Shakespeare & Co bookstore [one of the two or three English-language and books bookstores in Vienna] by purchasing Dr. Timmermann's handsome, comprehensive, illustrated "The Third Man's Vienna."

Riding the Riesenrad (the "large wheel", roughly translated) did not involve a tour. This large and historic ferris wheel plays a role in The Third Man. The wheel is located in the Prater, I'd guess about 20 minutes northeast of Vienna's center by Vienna's excellent bus and subway system. The Prater is a substantial amusement park with many, many attractions and rides for the kids and adults, and, of course, a great variety of food.
