I am interested in group walking tours within a one hours drive of Malaga. Any suggestiond for web sites much appreciated.

duke,
Don't know what your price range is, but you might want to check out the Andalusian walking tours at www.caminotours.com
(now called Breakaway Adventures). They do a walk in the Alpujarras, south of Granada, which starts in Malaga, but they're rather "high end", although the accomodations, guides and meals are absolutely first rate. I took their Picos de Europa hiking trip 3 years ago.
www.caminotours.com

Spain Adventures also does a Alpujarras hiking trip that's less expensive but departs from Granada.
www.spainadventures.com

But the true Alpujarras experts are the people at Rustic Blue. They provide a transfer from Malaga airport to the first Alpujarran village.
www.rusticblue.com

Hope this helps.

Thanks Mirabel. Rustic Blue hit the spot .

Any other thoughts on this question?

We are signed up to do a walking tour of the Alpujarras with Above the Clouds (www.aboveclouds.com) in March. Haven't done any trips in the past with them, but their reputation is good.
REI Adventures (www.rei.com) also has a trip in the Alpujarras, and we have travelled with them before--very organized and professional. We didn't go with them to Spain because their dates weren't right for us, but I would highly recommend them.

duke,
The REI Spain guides are excellent. I know one personally who used to lead walks for Camino Tours/Bravo Adventures. I'd certainly consider them.

Here are some other sources, mostly British, offering walks in Andalucia. You can just join the group in Spain from their starting pt.

www.andalucian-adventures. co.uk
www.spanish-steps.com
www.headwater-holidays.co.uk
www.ramblersholidays.com
www.exploreworldwide.com (but 15 days)
www.walkeurope.com
(they have a Ronda safari walk starting in Gaucín)
