Walking Tours in Rome
 

Does anyone have a recommendation for walking tour service in Rome? I contacted Scala tours, and they are booked the week we are there later this month (June). I have sent emails to Enjoy Rome, the service promoted by Rick Steves, but they will not answer my emails. We're looking for a three hour tour to cover ancient Rome as an introduction for my two teen sons. Thanks.

I was told by enjoy rome tours to meet at their office that they don't take advance reservations

There is a kiosk at the entrance of the ancient Rome area past the Circus where you can rent a walkman tour in several languages to go at your own pace thru the ruins. There are also plenty of walking tour books you may use that I have found much better than guides

Hey Jeff, <BR> <BR>My husband and I got back from Rome two weeks ago and LOVED the Enjoy Rome tour we took. It was 3 hours and was led by a really knowledgable and very funny guy named Scott. You need to go to their office the morning of the tour and purchase tickets in Lira (30,000 L = $15.00 per person). We took a cab and had it wait while one of us ran in, then continued on to the Colosseum. (The tour covers the exterior of the Colosseum, the Forum, Campogidlio, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Piazza Navona.) <BR> <BR>When we got to the Colosseum, we took a great 45 minute tour of it that was offered where you purchase tickets. Addmission is 10,000L to enter and a little more for the tour. We took the 10:15 tour, had lunch in the area and met up with the Enjoy Rome tour at 1:00 at the green kiosk at the Colosseum Metro stop. That way, we got everything in. Jeff; <BR>We also had that problem with Scala tours being booked, but they sent a list of recomended tour guides. We did Walks of Rome for Vatican, and that was fine, but one person they recomended, Daniella Hunt, we booked her for the Coloseum, and she was worth every penny. She tailored her tours to us and was very knowledgable. She got back with me every time I emailed her within a day. Both Enjoy Rome and Walks of Rome did get back with me, but they took a few days.
