Walking tour of Zürich: July 3 at 19.00

Every year, I organise a city tour in English for my English students here in Switzerland. This year we are going to Zürich and would love to have some English mother-tongue speakers join us!

Date: Thursday, July 3

Time: 19.00 - 21.00 (7-9 pm)

Meeting place: In front of the tourist office at the Hauptbahnhof.

Price: I have a group price of
SFr. 205 that will be split up. I think we'll be about 20 people.

If you're in the area and are interested in joining, reply to this thread.

Danke und Tschüss!

schuler,

wish I could join, but I don't meet the criterion "mother tongue English speaker" ;-)

And I'll be in Switzerland that day, but in Sils. Not that I complain here. LOL

However, great idea and thanks for the offer to the Fodorites.

I.

Hi Schuler
Bill and I will join your group! Can't believe the luck to have this TOUR our LAST DAY in Switzerland and also when we only have from 4:00pm to do Zurich. Marvelous luck!
See you in front of the tourist office at the Hauptbahnhof (that is the train station, isn't it??)

Hi Nannibray,

Great! I'll put you and your husband on my list. We'll be a wonderfully mixed group of my adult English students, 6 from New Zealand and you two.

The tourist office is IN the Hauptbahnhof in Zürich. It's at the opposite end from the tracks.
The tour will start at 19.00 and we'll be there about 10 minutes beforehand.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Ingo: I would have loved to have met the eagle from Germany. Enjoy your time in lovely Sils. Are you bringing a mountain bike? Seems half the men in Switzerland no longer hike... they bike.

Gruezi and Ingo: Hopefully we can meet up another time!

Will the Tourist Office be open at 7:00 PM? Probably not.
In the event we can't make it, I will leave a message for you at the tourist office. We are SENIORS so you will recognize us by our age. (In body only, not in spirit!)

Hi Nannibray,

Perfect! Just mention the English class and they'll know who we are. We won't be able to wait longer than 5 minutes for you because we are on a tight timeframe ourselves.

As to being seniors, I've got some 70+ year olds in the group too. You should see them ski!

Looking forward to seeing you on July 3!

Hi Freeman,

It would have been nice to meet you. I'll be organising a city tour in July 2009 too. It will be probably be in Rapperswil.

Would have loved to have met you too!

I've still got some space available if anyone would like to show up at the last minute.

It's supposed to rain tonight so I'm a bit worried about the turnout.

You can control a lot of things but you can't control the weather!

And this is not advertising because this Fodorite has been posting a lot in the past.

Is it?

Grrr:
This is not advertising because I'm not earning a cent on it. It's more of a get together with Swiss English students and English speaking tourists and a chance to see Zürich.

This made me think about advertsing...

Sorry that I can't be with you folks either, schuler. Each time my train passes in the vicinity of Schwyz or Rothenthurm, I think how nice it would be to have coffee. On my to-visit list for the distant future is the musicbox museum in Seewen. Perhaps that will provide an opportunity. I was able to make a quick get-away to Gerra for four little nights at the beginning of June, so my next trip is a long way off, I regret to say. Wishing you excellent weather for your evening city tour. J.

Hi Schuler,
Have just returned from a return visit to Zurich (ex Oz) and would suggest a couple of different tourist attactions to include in your city tour next time around. Sorry to have missed 3 July 2008.
My suggestion is to include the two wonderful designs by Spanish contemporary architect Santiago Calatrava - i.e. the University Law Library building and the Stadelhofen Railway, Zurich.
Would rate these two visits as the highlight of our visit to Zurich (of course we have been to the town and precincts previously.
Hope you had a good attendance, good weather and a great tour.
Cheeers, Jay from Oz
