Walking tour of Venice

Friends recommended a walking tour of Venice, but I'm not sure it's worth it. We are taking walking tours in Rome and Florence. Does anyone have a company to recommend for Venice or should we just use our guidebooks. We have 3 full days in Venice in early May.

Somehow find a copy of Venice Walks by Chas Carner & Alessandro Giannatasio. This is the most amazing guidebook I have ever experienced!! The self guided "narrated" walks outlined opened my eyes to Venice and has made it one our favorite place on earth!!!The book is out of date so simply ignore hotel/restaurant suggestions. Enjoy Venice, John & Robin

It will be my 4th time in Venice this June and crzn1 on the strength of your rave review I have just purchased a second hand copy from Amazon as it is always good to see a place anew .So thank you . John

Hi JohnFitz, I hope you enjoy your "Venice Walks" as much as we did. We originally purchased our first copy at a clearance bookstore for $1 usd. One of our best travel bargains. We have been to Venice 4 times, our only disappointment is the ever worsening graffiti. Hope its better now. Enjoy your travels

Go to your local Barnes and Noble or Borders and look at Rick Steves' walks in his Venice guidebook.

Walks Inside Venice - ask for Christina - she is amazing! We booked a full-day walking tour with her in September, and it was one of the highlights of our two-week trip.

Expertriplanner, Did you book Christina as a private tour or a group tour? What tour did you take? DO you remember the cost?

Anyone find any good podcasts or other audio tours?

We booked Christina as part of a private tour (4 of us). It was a full-day tour, rather costly but very much worth it. You can contact www.walksinsidevenice.com for the latest offerings and pricing. We liked Christina because she spoke English well, had a sense of humor, was able to adapt the tour to my parents' slow pace, and was incredibly knowledgeable, especially in the area of architecture. This outfit has a good website; you'll see that they have interesting educational/experiential credentials.
