Walking the wall question?

Have heard about the numerous amounts of steps to get up to the wall & how steep they are. For ease of getting onto the wall, what is the best location?

Thanks, Julie

I guess it might help to know which wall you are talking about

francophile03 May 26th, 2008 04:34 PM

Maybe I missed one of your earlier posts, but what wall are you referring to?

francophile03 May 26th, 2008 04:38 PM

Would this wall be located in Lucca by some chance?

J62 May 26th, 2008 05:28 PM

1£ says she's talking about Hadrian's wall.

francophile03 May 26th, 2008 05:32 PM

Yeah, probably, it is looking at JulieAgain's earlier posts.

It would be good to repost, Julie, with the name of the wall in your new post so you can get better replies.

Hi JulieAgain, perhaps it would be a good idea to post this question onto to whatever other thread you have started regarding your trip. If you don't know how to find your other thread just click on your name and that thread and all of your other posts will show up to the left of the screen.

What an off the wall thread this is!

vjpblovesitaly May 27th, 2008 11:40 AM

All in all it's just another brick in the wall.

adrienne May 27th, 2008 11:48 AM

Don't spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door.

PalenQ May 27th, 2008 11:57 AM

If it's Hadrian's wall then most of it is in ruins - you step over it

I spent most of a day looking for the Wall and never found it except some rubble so know where you are looking

PatrickLondon May 27th, 2008 01:38 PM

Well, I'll take pity on her. If it is Hadrian's Wall, go to Housesteads. You can visit the museum and the remains of the fort and walk up to the wall and see what you feel about walking further. The ups and downs are relatively gentle in the immediate area, but you would need to get higher to get the best view of the sweep of it.

And then take the bus to Vindolanda for the really fascinating archaeological background

It must be the Dubrovnik old town walls because the post shows up if you do a Croatia filter.
It is a myth that these walls are difficult to anyone unless you have health issues. Once entrance may have fewer steps, but it matters little. There are steps along the way too, but you'll have time to rest and recover if you need to. It is not a long walk overall--just try to avoid midday heat.

Wall, I dunno...
