Walking Shoes>>UGGS?
Are Uggs good walking shoes? I have a pair that Ive been using and are very comfortable, but have to admit did not do any type of walking tours with them.. I have perused the boards and some say they are not. Anyone fodorites traveled to Europe with them?
Will they be in style this winter... in Italy? |
I wore mine 2 years ago in Turin, it was raining and they soaked thru. They are comfortable but I'd scoth-guard them. They are sort of out now, but I don't care I wear them for comfort. They do take up alot of room in the suitcase though.

i always travel in winter months and take my uggs for pure comfort. they are not the best support for walking all day everyday but wonderful to have for warmth and if you feet swell they are the answer.
Never owned those Uggs but swear by my Memphisto and SAS. They are the only 2 pairs I depended on in Europe.
My daughter has been wearing them for two weeks now, and everyday it rains, all our groups shoes are soaked, Mephistos as well (and they are scotchguarded), she is the only one that is high and dry, and warm as well, but I agree, you need to scotchguard them thoroughly

Seems like Uggs are cozy but they don't offer support for days you'll be walking for hours on end. I'd take them along, but I'd also have a pair of waterproof shoes or boots with a thick sole, low heel and some arch support.
I don't know about Italy but lots of people in London are wearing them now.
It was vry cold and rainy when I was in Paris and ended up wearing them everywhere except to dinner. I was surprised to see alot of uggs. Mine are very old in brown ,I have had them since when they first came out in the states, but still look as good as the newer black ones. I find the real UGGS have good support and also good for me because I have wide feet and we have very cold and icy weather here in Boston.

UGGS by name UGGs by nature. They are very fash in the UK again this Autumn. I can't speak for how they walk - but from a red blooded male (and I speak for many) they have to be the least sexy piece of fash that has every come on the market. Please no more UGGS!
A sexy woman is sexy with or without UGGs, infact they may emphazine her sexiness in a way that stilletos scream sexy at you don't! :)
sorry - withdraw that last comment on the grounds of its total lack of any PC. I now defend a women's right to be warm. Please excuse me = sorry UGG wearers.
UGGs are just plain UGGly. There are plenty of warm comfortable waterproof boots that are great for walking that are so much more attractive that those things,IMO.
I can't imagine taking UGGS when traveling. They're huge and would take up half my suitcase. Plus I think they're totally unsexy and they make my feet sweat, and they don't look good with much of anything I like to wear.
I don't know if they'll be in style this winter in Italy or not, but of all the shoes/boots I own (and I'm a real Imelda when it comes to shoes), they'd be the last thing I'd pack. I can't imagine it would ever get so cold in Italy that I'd need to be packed into UGGS. |
There are many more UGGS styles than just the "Classic" which is currently popular in some places (and very "last year" elsewhere). Some styles are waterproof and look fairly supportive for walking; some have Vibram soles for slippery conditions.
Go to www.zappos.com and search the UGGS brand. |
