I will be staying at the Hilton Metropole
Hotel and am wondering if the hotel is in walking distance to shops and historic sites

Plug the address into Google Earth or mapquest and see what the neighborhood looks like

You will be very close to Tube stops at Edgware Road (Circle Line) which will take you to many of the sites. You are also within walking distance of Marble Arch and the Speaker's Corner of Hyde Park. If you go through Hyde Park to the west, you'll be in Kensington Gardens where Kensington Palace is located.

You can also walk south through Hyde Park to Green Park and Buckingham Palace and then through St. James' Park over to Big Ben and Parliament. Though this is quite a stroll.

The address of the hotel is 225 Edgware Road. You can get a better feel for where you are located and where these and other sites are by looking at www.multimap.com. Hope you have a great trip.

London is a HUGE city..there is nowhere you can stay that will be in walking distance to everywhere...that's why they have the tube and bussses

Stayed there last year with my daughter. We walked or took the Tube everywhere, usually with transfers. When we got tired of the Tube, we took a taxi. Fares were reasonable if I recall correctly.

Go to www.walkit.com and enter your starting point and destination. This site will tell you how far it is, how long it takes to walk there, and how many calories you will burn by walking!
