Wait List for Freq Flyer Tickets to Italy

I took the seats with the complicated routing for the outbound flight and wait listed 5 other flights. I called last night (11/2) for the return flights and nothing was available. Now my intention is to keep trying until I get something better. I appreciate the recommendation that I also be sure to check the partner airlines since those flights cannot be wait listed.
Of course there is no guarantee that Delta will ever release any FF seats for the flights I want but IMO this is the best strategy open to me. We'll see how it goes...
