Waether in Austria

How is the weather in Austria early September. Also, is it best to rent a car to look around austria or by train. I have 15 month old toddler and would like which is more easier? Thanks.

See www.weatherbase.com or www.worldclimate.com for weather statistics. Austria encompasses a number of climate conditions due to the high altitudes in places.

If "you" would be referring to TWO parents (or adults of any kind) plus a toddler, then a car will be an enjoyable thing to have in Austria, and I recommend you check www.autoeurope.com - - but if you are traveling with NO other adults, then I think that train transportation makes a lot of sense.

Thanks Rex. It is 2 adults and a toddler. i would like some suggestions of places to visit in austria. It seems like Salzburg is too hyped! We fly to Vienna.

Salzburg is "hyped" for a reason. It is beautiful. However, it is a large, somewhat congested city. But, if you spend your time in the Old Town, wandering along the Getriedegasse, visiting the Hohensalzburg Fortress (magnificent views) with a stroll thru Mirabell Gardens, I think you will see what all the fuss is about!

Salzburg IS indeed worthy of its hype. And it seems so much more "European" than Vienna. I liked Vienna, but it is "imperial", formal, and as much similar to Indianapolis or Raleigh or Pittsburgh than it is different (language not withstanding, of course).

But here is my definite new favorite in Austria: Graz! Lovely, easy to get around, easily worth 48 hrs to 5 days.
