VRBO in Rome
 

Looking to rent with VRBO. Need advice on what area of rome. Would like best centralized location. Close to a few tourist attractions.

Ideally, Piaza Navona area would be the most convenient to sites. GENERALLY HOWEVER, it is not the best as far as size, price, and general condition(s). As you branch farther from Navona the apartments get bigger and less expensive. The facilities (water systems, etc)... get much better as well. I rented an apartment close to the Vatican using VRBO which worked out best for us because we were mainly visiting a (student) relative. It was HUGE, 100 Euros/Day, owner was wonderful to deal with. Since I have been to Rome many times before, next I would stay at Campo de Fiori, near the Colosseo (selected streets!), or even Trastevere.

We liked the Spanish Steps area, from which we walked everywhere. Took the subway to the Vatican, but actually walked back. You sound like you definitely want VRBO, but you might want to look at the apartments at Domus Julia, where we stayed. It is a very good value, with a nice breakfast offered in the Hotel Julia's facilities.

Seems Rome is filling up fast. Looked up your listing Viajero2 all booked in June and checked out the Domus Julia that is booked as well! Oh My

What size accommodation do you need? How many are you? How much are you willing to pay?

We are looking for a 1 bedroom apartment June 12 thru June20 no more than 140 E per night.

My favourite apartment, where we have stayed 3 times, is Apartment Miguel on Romecapitalapartments. It rents for 104 E/ nt in off season but I think it is more like 160 E in high season.

That company has lots of nice places, though.

On sleepinitaly there is a good selection. I have dealt with them a couple of times with complete satisfaction.

Just to give one random example: here is one in tiny P.za San Salvatore in Lauro, 5 min walk from P.za Navona.

(That is my dream location but the apt we had there once has been sold.)

Our last apartment was through RentalinRome.com, and it was called Audrey in the Spanish Steps area. The owner has three apartments there, thoroughly modernized, all lovely in a very attractive building. It's easy to tell that these three apartments all belong together as they all have a woman's name and the same very contemporary look. I would stay again.

RentalinRome assured me that they have never had any problems with the owner of these three apartments, and I would believe it, as they were all obviously renovated to be income, with no slap dash, or half accomplished remodeling. All very finished and attractive. One stair case up.

tuscanlifeedit: We used Rental in Rome, with complete satisfaction.

But I discovered that the Tiberside apartment we loved was available from Rome Capital Apartments at a substantial discount from what we paid to Rental in Rome.

It is always, IME, worth checking around online to find who else lists a Rome apartment one is attracted to...

BTW, different agencies have different high seasons and low seasons. Rental in Rome's winter low season ends Feb. 28, RCA's ends in mid-March.

For those who travel in the shoulder season, such variables can make a significant $$$ difference. It was certainly one reason why Apt Miguel cost less through the one than through the other. But there was still an appreciable difference in off-season rates between the 2 companies for the same apartment.

We stayed in the Traverste neighborhood and it did not seem far from anything. We walked all over. The apartment we rented was thru RomeLoft. http://www.romeloft.com/960-santonofrio-terrace/ The veiws were incredible. The cost may be more than you want to spend but they have several options.
