I'm confused with booking a train ticket on this website. I am from the USA. The appendices of countries does not show the USA and the address info wants a France address. Can a USA resident book a ticket on the Voyages site?

Yes, anyone can book a ticket, but you can't opt to have the tickets mailed to you in the USA (although I've read that a few people have succeeded in getting that to happen).
Just leave France as the country. If you're booking PREM or IDTGV tickets, pick the print-out option. If you're booking regular tickets, pick the pick up tickets at the station option. |
Yes, you can reserve on-line and have the tickets mailed to you in the USA, or you can print your ticket from the web site.

If you read the site <b>thoroughly</b> you will find that you cannot have tickets mailed to North American countries such as Canada and the US which are served by SNCF/Swiss Fed Railroads marketing arm (that's RailEurope).

Hi Dupree, There are many of us who have struggled with the tempermental SNCF. It does work when it wants to and you should be able to print or pick up tickets if you are holding your mouth the right way when you enter the info LOL! If not just keep trying or ask more questions here. If you want to see what problems have stumped me at times type in my name and several scenarios will show up! Good luck! |
Their website indicates what countries are eligible for mailings, and the US isn't one of them.... but their computer system didn't get the message, as I received my tickets to Rouen within 10 days to my home address in Florida. There's no guarantee this will happen, however.

Our last tickets, for early July 05, were sent in two different packages. The first was delivered within two weeks while the second traveled around France for the next 4 weeks until someone in the French postal service noticed that it was actually a USA address and crossed out France in the address. It’s part of the fun of traveling. And a phone call always works wonders.

If you want tickets mailed to your home in the USA you can do it by buying by telephone. Call the English speaking agent at 011 33 8 92 35 35 39 and buy the tickets. Ask the agent to mail them to you.
I prefer to just buy the tickets on-line and pick them up at any train station or SNCF boutique in France or if I can get a prem ticket I can of course print the ticket myself from the web-site. Remember that you can not get your tickets at the automatic ticket machines in the train stations as these machines do not accept foreign credit cards and you must use your credit card as a form of ID even though you already paid for them by credit card on the internet.
