volcano's villas, santorini
 

Unfortunately something went wrong with our reservation with the Blue Dolphins apartments (they had "mistaken" the availability dates - third time already since we are trying to book anything in Santorini) and we had to change to Volcano's Villas in Oia.

Anybody stayed there recently ? Any personal experiences about the place ? The views from their veranda look great but I cannot find any photos of their rooms.

Any answers will be appreciated,

It's been a few years since we stayed there, but the view was spectacular! Our room was just fine, and we didn't have any trouble with the staff or service as another poster mentioned. We had just arrived from a small hotel on Mykonos, where we found the staff extremely friendly, helpful, eager to please, etc. The VVV staff did not present themselves in that manner, but they were perfectly adequate for our needs.

It was just wonderful to walk out of our room onto our private patio and have the complete vista of the caldera stretching before us; it looked like a travel poster!

My wife and I stayed at Volcanos Villas near Oia last September.
Without a doubt, this was the most amazing experience in a hotel we have experienced in all of our worldwide travels. The rooms are very large and extremly clean. They contain large family rooms, large bedrooms, a nice kitchenette, and a second bedroom upstairs in a loft. The owner is a very helpful gentleman who takes lots of pride in his beautiful hotel, especially since he built it himself a few years ago.
And the view... The rooms' private balconies with Caldera views are amazing; the large refreshing pool shares the same view.
There is a walking path that passes in back of the hotel, which follows the top of the caldera into Oia. Or, you may walk along the street for around 5 or 10 minutes into downtown Oia.
We preferred the quiet, quaint Oia to the more hectic island capital of Fira. You are certainly in for a treat at the Volcano's Villas and Oia.

You are certainly encouraging me. The place looks great on their website but I was afraid the rooms would be small or had no view since there is no clear photo of them. I noticed there is no air conditioning. Did you feel its lack at the time you went ? We are going there end of July.

We were at Volcano's Villas in early September, but the temperatures were in the mid 80's (F), probably not much different from the temperatures in July. The room stayed quite cool, since we kept our windows open the entire time (Since the rooms are two-storied, with lofts, there are two windows up high on opposite sides of the 30+ foot apartments), as well as two large windows in the bedroom, with views out to the caldera and sea. There is a nice cross breeze through the rooms, so I'm sure you wouldn't want a/c even if it was available.

Also, I forgot to mention on the last post, my wife and I would HIGHLY recommend the restaurant, Santorini-MOU, which is just a few hundred yards across the street and to the left of Volcano's Villas. It is a very special, jovial atmosphere in a beautiful outdoor patio/garden setting. The prices are quite reasonable ($5-$10) per meal, and the owner and another man regularly serenade each table with their authentic greek style mini-guitar. It was certainly a memorable exerience also. Here is a website I found about the taverna:

Here's another vote for Santorini Mou. We actually had our wedding reception/dinner there. There were about 10 of us and we had a huge feast. The musicians were great, there was Greek dancing and - best of all! - plate breaking! A great casual, fun, "Greek" experience.
