Volare or Czech Airlines???
My husband and I are planning a 6-week trip to Europe. We will primarily be traveling by rail but would like to flight from Prague to Milan. I have been researching Volare and Czech Airlines. Volare offers the best fares, approx $70 US one-way, but I have found mixed reviews on them. I am mostly concerned with flight cancellations or delays. Czech Airlines is the next cheapest option, $160 US round-trip. They don?t sell one-way tickets so we would just use the Prague to Milan segment. I have not found many reviews for Czech Airlines but they seem to be more positive.
I was wondering if anyone has recommendations? Would it be ok to take Volare or should we use Czech Airlines? Thanks in advance for your help! Tish |
I have flown Czech Air many, many times. They are always a fine choice. If you search on Expedia, I think you can get a one-way ticket. The actual CSA website does not sell one ways, but I have purchased one way tickets from Rome to Prague, and Prague to Amsterdam, etc on Expedia.

Not likely to be a more appealing solution for your exact question, but for others reading this thread, it might be worth knowing about smartwings.net
They don't fly from Italy, though ZRH is close, for others on a northern Italy trip. Fares from ZRH to PRG starting at 55 CHF plus 36 CHF taxes - - making it slightly cheaper than the Volare fare. Best wishes, Rex |
Have flown Czech Airlines a couple of times and they were very professional and had what appeared to be almost new planes - Boeing 737s. One of the only airlines I have not had a bad experience with.

I had booked flights on Volare a few months ago and then they made a schedule change I couldn't live with (middle of the night flight) so I booked myself on Czech Air. I figured the money I'd spent on Volare was down the tube since they have a no refund policy and they didn't cancel my flights, just changed the times. Well they were very nice and did in fact refund the money. So, I've never flown with them but they are a good company to do business with. Can't tell you about Czech Air since I haven't gone yet but I'll let you know in three weeks when I get back. Leaving today!!!!!!

Thanks for all of your advice! It is good to know that people have had good experiences with both Volare and Czech Airlines. Based on the price difference, we are now leaning towards Volare. I did try to find a one-way ticket with Czech Airlines on expedia but it was more expensive (~$400)--was I doing something wrong? Just wondering if anybody out there has had a problem with either of these airlines?
Thank you for sharing your expertise! And have a great trip Isabel! Tish |
BEWARE: VOLARE AIRLINES SUSPENDED ALL FLIGHT OPERATIONS TODAY, HAS CEASED SELLING TICKETS, AND ITS AIRCRAFT ARE SUBJECT TO BEING SEIZED.
