Volare Air - Positive Experiences?

I saw a fare of 19.99 euro from Naples to Venice. Has anyone had any bad experiences with them?

I've been on many "puddle jumpers". What type of aircraft do they have in their fleet and did you feel safe (from a mechanical standpoint) on them? My sister is a licensed aircraft mechanic and she has told me some stories that make me think twice about who I fly. Thanks. Nancy

Some comments here from people who have actually flown them:

This evening's Volare flight from Catania to Venice was cancelled for lack of cabin crew, and 146 passengers were left stranded overnight, so reports La Repubblica newspaper (online edition at 22:40 local time.

Well I can tell you something good and something bad about them. I had booked two flights with them last winter. I scheduled the rest of my trip more or less around that, including the dates and times of my international flight. Then a couple of months later (but still a couple of months before my trip) they changed the flight times to totally unacceptable times. Instead of mid day flights they were from midnight to 2am. There was no way I could deal with ground transportation ,hotel check-in, etc. at those times. Fortunately I was able to find flights on another carrier for a reasonable rate at the times I needed. But the good news is that Volare refunded my money. Even though I guess technically they didn't have to as they had not canceled my flights, only changed the times (though drastically). So I really can't complain about them. All of their planes that I did see were modern jets.

isabel, how did you find out about the changes? Did Volare notify you or were you calling them?

They sent me an email. And when I called they were very nice, tried to see if there was some other flight I could work with and when there wasn't they offered to refund my money. That's why I say I can't really be mad at them. At first I thought I was screwed because I had no way to get from Italy to Prague (and back) and already had all the hotel reservations in place. But to be fair, it was more than a month before the scheduled flights that they changed their schedule. I just don't know why they'd want their one daily flight from Prague to Milan to be at 2am.

Volare operates modern Airbus 320 aircraft. You can see photos of them on their website.
