Vitamins and carry on's question
 

Count down for our fist trip to Europe- Crete, Italy and Provence.
Thank you everyone for all the stellar advice.
One rather possibly silly question. Have any of you traveled with 3 weeks worth of vitamins? I really would like to save space and just stuff them in baggies but not so sure how that would go over with customs etc.
Never had trouble in the states with it but just thought I would check in with the experts. We are traveling by air and train.

Yes, I have traveled to many countries with many vitamins. I always transfer them to either plastic bags or to non-original containers. Not once has anyone looked at them twice. I would be very surprised if anyone looked at your pill collection if you are an ordinary tourist!

FWIW, I put them into an empty prescription bottle in w/my non-liquid/non-gel toiletries. Uses slightly more space than a sandwich baggie, but they attract no attention that way.

Vitamins and supplements are not a problem. Customs agents know the different between them and controlled substances.

I have never had a problem

My husband brings so many vitamins and supplements that I'm surprised they don't charge us extra for his luggage. Never a problem.

The agents have more important concerns than a few pills. I put my pills in small containers or pill envelopes, label them by hand, and never had any problem.

If you are still concerned, carry a few days worth, and put the rest in baggies in your checked bags. ((*))

I should have added that their job is to confiscate dangerous items that can cause havoc and disaster, like my wife's wooden knitting needles which were confiscated in Athens, or the small scissors that were confiscated in Auckland. ((*))
