Visiting the Grand Theatre of Bordeaux

Hello! I'd like to visit the interior of the opera house, but I can't see a performance there and the guided tours are only in French (which my group doesn't speak). Is it possible to see the interior without a guided tour? On the website it doesn't seem so. If not, would it be worth it to take the tour in French just to see the interior, even if we can't understand the narration?

Hi abbydog, if you are looking at the website, look in the upper right-hand corner for a flag icon. You can tap it to get the British one and English translations. Also, I sent an email asking about group tours (which you can do also...go to practical information, click booking information). Will let you know what I hear.

Thanks! Yes, I am seeing the English language icon and reading the website in English, but it still looks like the scheduled tours are only in French. Thanks for sharing whatever you hear about a private group tour!

Thanks again, TDudette! The tourist office emailed me to confirm that the only way to see the interior (aside from peeking in the front door to see the grand staircase) is to book a tour in French or attend a performance. Not sure about private tours!

Oops, sorry I misread about tours in English. Will see what email says and will ask again about visiting.

I have been on a number of tours around the world without understanding the explanations, even when they were purportedly in English. This never prevented me from appreciating what I was seeing.
