Bus from Barcelona to Madrid
I arrive into Barcelona early September and hope to see city highlights and take at least 2 day trips and wonder if there is a good bus service from Barcelona to Madrid.
I know there is a train which takes under 3 hrs. but would like to hear from members if there is any other service between these cities. Thanks to all for any help provided.

yes, there is. That didn't used to be a high speed line, either, so buses made more sense then. Spain has a lot of good bus lines, I've taken them several times. Alsa (name of bus company) has a route from Madrid to Barcelona, they are one of the main companies out of Madrid. It takes about 7-8 hours and costs about 30 euro, leaves from different points in Madrid. HEre's info

That's the only company I know of. You can get a train ticket for only about 60-70 euro, so not sure I'd take the bus now that they have that high speed line, unless you just don't like trains or that amount of savings is worth it to you.

If you book at www.renfe.com or (easier) www.loco2.com you can find train tickets from as little as 35 euros.
The journey takes just 2h30 on the fastest trains.

I have looked at the loco2 site and have order on hold. Got one way ticket mid-day on 9/8 just under 25.00 Sterling. Might look now for multi-ride tickets to cover day trips in Barcelona. Probably costs less than booking a tour company but will check out routes soon. Thanks to all for all the help above.

Just received emailconfirming my TRAIN journey from Barcelona to Madrid, got a great price Stl. 24.50 for window seat coach class, one way 2pm train on 9/7/15.
Now I am working on day trips out of Barcelona and Madrid that might give me a chance to get out of city to enjoy lovely sightseeing. Thanks again for the help provided.
