Visiting London During Wimbledon
 

We are arriving in London just when Wimbledon is starting. We will be there 6 days and staying in the South Kensington area. With the tournament going on will this impact touring attractions such as Westminster Abbey, Tower of London (already bought my tickets), etc.? What about having lunch and dinner out without reservations? Thanks for your help.

The rest of London doesn't really notice - it's busy anyway.

Wimbledon is a mere ripple in the ocean that is London.

it'll make no difference whatever to your trip, except that on days Andy Murray is playing, you might be able to hear some cheering from SW19.

It will not really affect major sights - since the real fans will be at Wimbledon. It may make it harder to get hotels in areas that are convenient for getting to Wimbledon (I did that one year and the hotel I was in was filled with fans - so breakfast was always mobbed.)

There will be a lot of tennis on television and in the papers, but the effect on you is likely to be 0.

Agree w/ everything above. Can't imagine you will even notice. exceptvas mentioned above if Andy Murray is doing well, the newspapers will have screeming headlines. There are millions of people in London - and just a small handful will be at Wimbledon. Nothing at all will be impacted.

It isn't like the Super Bowl in a small city like New Orleans.

We were in South Kensington during Wimbledon a few years ago. We also went to a few matches. The rest of London did not seem to be affected. We did not find anything overly crowded, except when we got trapped by a parade one afternoon in central London.

expect perhaps the odd crowd on the platform at south ken, queuing to get on the district line trains for Wimbledon.

We didn't notice the Olympics much so....

We are in London from the 4th to the 7th July (finishes on that weekend with the big finals), but have seen no increase in prices for hotels or restaurants. We've booked both and found no problems.

London has so many of both to offer, that as others have said, it's hardly a riplle.

by the way...it's also a big weekend for concerts at Hyde Park, Wembley and the o2 arena with many more people involved than will attend Wimbledon. Still not really a ripple.
