Visiting London
I will be visiting London in July for two days and then off to do a cruise. While in London, I would like to visit some surrounding cities that are close by that are a must see. Any suggestions?

Have you been to London? What is wrong w/ staying right in London. 2 days is absolutely nothing for seeing London - and if you are flying in long haul you will be pretty jetlagged so will really only have 1 full day for serious sightseeing.
Even if you don't want to see anything at all in London, you certainly don't have time to visit "some" cities. Maybe 1 - like Bath, or Canterbury. |
Possibly Windsor if you must. Though London proper has more "must see"s than outside of London.

Cool it!! Why not see London?
Otherwise you will spend most of the little time you have in transit. GTG |
I have been to London twice already with each visit just a day each. The day I arrive in London will be sightseeing around town and to take in a show at night seeing Mary Poppins. As someone suggested looking at Bath & Canterbury. What is there to do their?

I'd suggest bath as well, it's a very nice small town. Used to be where the Romans took their bath, that's why the name. Take a train from London Paddington, the journey is around 1 hour. A day would be enough to see the most of it, although you can choose to stay a night.
Perhaps you can just stay in London, I am sure there are a lot of other things that you've not seen in your last two visits :P. |
I would second Bath, easily doable in a day as long as you head out early. A beautiful, beautiful city and a World Heritage site. Take a bus tour so that you see the whole city and make sure you see the Roman baths - fascinating. That, combined with a pub lunch, will take up most of the day and then you can head back to London. The journey itself is a lot of fun through relaxing countryside.

Thank you so much with all the information. I think I will take a day trip to Bath to see what it is all about. Thanks again!
