Visiting Ljubljana Slovenia for 2 weeks - Looking for ideas :)
Me and my Wife are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary this Summer and will be visiting the City of Ljubljana.
We haven't been before so looking for some recommendations please. Thanks Lewis |
Ljubljiana is delightful! That said, I personally wouldn't stay there for two weeks, but would instead spend some time elsewhere, perhaps in Bled. But Slovenia is small, so you could stay in Ljubljiana and take day trips -- Bled, Bohinj, the Skocjan caves, etc.
If you haven't seen it yet, the Rough Guide to Slovenia is excellent. Happy anniversary! |
Hi Kja,
Thanks for your reply, we cannot wait! Will do some digging into options! We haven't booked the Hotel yet so could move around more! |
A lot of people keep mentioned Lake Bled, and it looks stunning!
|
Lake Bled is lovely but it is probably the most visited place in Slovenia so can be crowded in the summer.
For Ljubljana I suggest looking at the visitljubljana website. I agree that a guide book or two from your local library or bookshop will help you find places which appeal to you both. It is wonderful for hiking if that appeals. Public transport is fairly good and driving distances relatively small should you decide to hire a car. Ljubljana is a main transport hub. |
That’s a nice city but I can’t imagine two weeks there,
personally. Day trips could include Bled, Piran, Zagreb, etc. |
September 2023 we did a tour from Slovenia to Croatia, and Montenegro.
Our favorite part was Slovenia. Ljubljana was a lovely town with lots of shops and restaurants. The Julian Alps gorgeous. our favorite hotel of the whole trip was The Lake Bled Rose Hotel. Very plain looking on the outside but when you step inside a riot of color. Breakfast buffet in a jungle, haha. Boat ride to the island on Lake Bled memorable. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fod...31acd615d.jpeg Lake Bled |
