visiting hadrian's villa

We will be visiting Rome as a part of our trip to Italy and want to visit Hadrian's Villa. Our hotel is near the B Metro line which I have been told you can take to the end of the line to catch a short bus to Hadrian's Villa.

My question is, is this advisable? We will be taking trains and public transit throughout the trip so don't really want to hire a car to go and, unless it makes a lot more sense, we don't really want to hire a guide.

Thanks for the advice in advance.

Very easy to do by public transport - don't bother with a car.

It is well worth the visit.

We did the same thing in Sept. You definitely dont need a car. Although the bus stop is quite a walk from the villa if I remember correctly.

About visiting Hadrian's villa I would reccomend you to read the book MEMORIE DI ADRIANO written by Margherita Yourcenar before you visit the Hadrian's villa and it will become that you "see" the emperor Adrian there, in the meantime you're visiting his villa.
Really.
Have a lovely trip, ciao.
