Looking for an affordably fun, romantic restaurant in Paris for an anniversary

Hi again!

My boyfriend and I will be in Paris on our anniversary and are looking for a memorable place to have dinner.

We're in our 30s, on a budget, and prefer character over luxury. Can anyone recommend a memorable and fun (and somewhat romantic) restaurant that's also relatively affordable?

A few details:
Affordable = $200 or under, including wine and dessert

Cuisine = Anything goes, but we'd prefer an adventurous chef

Location = Anywhere within modern Paris, even outlying areas.

Type of restaurant = Something unusual, memorable and with character. For example, in Portland, there's a restaurant in a box car where the owners place essays on the table for people to talk about. That's an extreme example, but definitely something unusual and not classically "fancy."

Thank you so much!

We haven't tried this yet -- but it's on our list. www.danslenoir.com
You eat in absolute darkness. It may not be uniquely Parisian, they have restaurants in Moscow and London but it does sound fun and romantic.

Congratulations on your anniversary.

That's exactly the type of restaurant I was looking for! I'm not sure our French is good enough to brave this for our anniversary dinner, but I love the idea of making this one of our lunches!

Thank you, BPK!

I can attest that the Dans Le Noir is a memorable experience.

You don't need to worry about your French ability. Even though we speak passable French the fellow who explained the process and took our order spoke English.

It was good food and after the second glass of rose I was able to sit back and enjoy the whole thing.
