Visiting Brunello vineyards

Will be staying in Tuscany for a week and would like to visit some Brunello vineyards near Montalcino. Any information on good ones to visit, hours, locations? (Examples: Castello di Banfi, Lisini)

What do you hope to do while there?
Pick grapes, see it made, or taste it and buy it. If the latter, that is best done in Montalcino. Read about Fattoria Barbi and Poggio Antico--both close to the Banfi site.

Just FYI. We had a bottle of Brunello di Montalcino this weekend just to try it before we go to Tuscany in May.

It was very good. Expensive here $80.00 a bottle. Don't usually spend this kind of money on wine, but wanted to try before we left. Smooth.

I stayed for a week in an appartment at FAttoria Barbi several years ago. As I recall, there is a daily tour and tasting. Also a nice restaurant as a part of the compound. I assume they have a website.

Poggio Antico has a great website where you can get a lot of details www.poggioantico.com

We visited Castello di Banfi, and I would highly recommend it. They have some great, great wines. Well worth their guest house/wine tasting shop. I would definitely go back.

You can have lunch/dinner there, but you have to make a reservation. ((b))
