visiting a Concentration Camp from Amsterdam or Milan
My teenage daughter and her traveling companions would like to take a day trip to a Concenatration Camp from either Amsterdam or Milan. Is this possible from either location? If so, any suggestions and tips will be appreciated. They are willing to do an overnight trip if necessary.
Thank you.
Thank you.

From Amsterdam, they could visit Westerbork, in the north-east near Groningen.
Westerbork was the main transit camp for deportation of Dutch Jews and Gypsies to the death camps, and over 100,000 were sent to their deaths from there, including Anne Frank. A visit to Westerbork would be a fitting accompaniment to a visit to Anne Frank's house in Amsterdam.
Although all of the buildings, except for one guard tower, have been taken down, it is a very sombre place, with impressive memorials. There is a very good interpretation center there.
I visited there this spring in the company of two Canadian veterans who were among the very first allied soldiers to arrive at the camp for its liberation on April 12, 1945.
