Visit Ancient Rome Online
Article in today's New York Times about a Google Earth application that allows you to see ancient Rome in 3-D. It was supposed to be ready yesterday, but there will be a short delay. In the meantime you can get a preview at earth.google.com. Click on the tab "Gallery" on the left, then click on Ancient Rome. You will have to download the GE software if you haven't already.
Link will take you to the Times' article: http://tinyurl.com/6c3cku |

Hi Fra,
We saw this too. I'm looking forward to finding time to play with it. Motorino |
A good gimmick, Fra Diavolo, but better to walk around the Forum and let your imagination take you away. The magic of Rome is not visiting a reconstruction of the ancient city (granted, an interesting educational experience), but the fact that there are 2000 years of history under your feet.

Well, of course. But for when you can't get there, and as a learning tool . . .
