VISA Requirements for staying in Italy- Two Months

Hello everyone,
Very soon I'll be setting off on my own to Sicily for two months. I have as Australian Passport and was under the understanding that this covered me in the Schengen countries for a period of 3 months. However, I was just looking at the website for the airport in Catania and came across this page

http://www.catania-airport.com/visa.html

On here they mention needing employment, insurance, sufficient funds, and lodging verification.

I will be staying with a friend for the majority of my stay- all bar a week.

Do I need all these documents? I have my passport, what else do I need?

Thanks!

Also! Reading this page again, they mention that I need "One application form completely and clearly filled out, to be signed by the applicant in the presence of a Consular Officer."

What application for are they talking about here?

Are you an Australian citizen? This page has nothing to do with Australians. It's for people who live in the US but are not citizens. Is your permanent home in the US? Are you traveling with a US green card? I wouldn't worry about it.

You are supposed to register with the police; ask your friend about this.

It's not the official website of the airport

- the following is

Here is a government website giving you all the necessary info for entry requirements.
