VISA FOR SPAIN

Hi I got a job offer to be an au pair in Spain. I'm from Australia. Can I enter for 90 days and obtain the work visa in Spain during this time, or do I need to get the work visa before I enter Spain?

Thank you.

Get the work visa before you leave Australia.

Ask your employer, they hired you and need to inform you on how to proceed with your visa paperwork. You will also need to check with the Spanish consulate.

You can't enter Spain on a tourist "visa" and then change it.

Entering Spain (and virtually every other country on the planet) with intent to work when you don't already have a work visa is grounds for immediate deportation

You can enter Spain as a tourist, work for this family - illegally - and be subject to immediate deportation if found. Or - you can work with the family to try get a legal visa before you leave. But - before you do that check the web site to see if thre is a chance of getting a work visa under these circumstances. It may not be an option unless you can prove there are no Spaniards who can do the job.

(A friend here in NYC employed Irish or Scots au paris regularly - but they all came as tourists and stayed illegally. Fine if you're staying a year or so and then plan on going home - and don;t come into any contact with the government. But - if they had been found they would have been deported.)
