Visa At Istanbul Airport
 

Leaving in the morning for Istanbul. Understand that you buy your visa at the airport with US $'s, $20? Can anyone give me an update, heard that the price was going up.

Visas can be obtained at Turkish border crossing points for tourist/business visits of up to 3 months or through a Turkish consular office in the U.S. Visa requires a completed application form and a passport with a minimum validity of 3 months. Visa fee is $20 for single entry and $65 for multiple entry (cash or money order only). Visa must be obtained in advance for longer stays and for study, research, or employment purposes. Visa requires your valid passport, 1 completed application form, and SASE. I clicked through the Turkish Embassy site too and it also lists USA as $20 for 2006.

And yes,you can buy your visa there if you have a US passport but you have to pay in cash.

I've done the airport thing at IST. How does it work on a cruise? We'll be concluding a WindStar cruise in Istanbul this Summer?

If you stay in Turkey less then 24 hours you do NOT need visa.

Buying a tourist visa at the airport is fast and easy. Make sure you get it before you go through the immigration line.

Thanks Sinan. We hit two ports in Turkey before concluding in Istanbul. We will then spend an additional 3 days in Istanbul.

In this case you have to get your visa from PORT or the place you live.

I recommend you get your visa at the port. Just go to Custom and get your visa. That's it.

YES, YOU CAN VERY EASILY GET IT AT THE PORT OF ENTRY.

Whether you are entering to Turkey in Istanbul, Ankara or Izmir or any other airport like along Mediterrenean Bodrum, Dalaman Airports, THIS IS WHAT YOU DO: Have $20.00 US or any other hard currency CASH, NO credit cards or checks accepted. In most airports, there is a kiosk/office near the Immigration Officers where they process your entry, NOT THE CUSTOMS OFFICERS, if you dont see the sign ASK where the VISA STAMPS ARE SOLD. Go there, pay the CASH and they will hand you a STAMP (Visa Stamp) then line up with the others to go through the immigration, when your turn comes, present your PPT (passport) and your VISA STAMP MAKE SURE THE OFFICER GLUES IT ON ONE OF THE PAGES OF YOUR PPT. THEN he will stamp your entry and you are done. IT IS MUCH EASIER TO GET IT AT THE PORT OF ENTRY THEN HASSLING THROUGH THE EMBASSIES OR CONSULATES WHERE you have to mail your PPT and get it back. You may have to mail it certified/or registered and at the end you end up paying more money. TURKS are really have come a long way in the past 15 years improving their roads, accomodations, and professional training in the turizm industry. Because it is a blood-line.

I love the country and the people who are very mixed of diverse ethnicity. This is a very unique country full of history that goes back 7000 BC and the ruins are still standing for us to see.
