Visa and Identity theft concern

Am I alone in my concern about the extensive personal information requested for a Russian Visa? Parents names, ex-spouse's birthdate, courses studied in college, etc.??? There is everything on the form that would be needed for identity theft and I'm not sure the trip is worth it. Am I being paranoid? JKR2006

Just like what is required when a British person travels to America. Aren't we supposed to be allies?

Anyone seriously attempting identity theft has a lot of easier resources to do so than getting a job at the Russian Visa offices.

Getting a visa requires that info -sometimes more/sometimes less - no matter the country. Get used to it or don't go to countries that require visas. Every single UK resident coming to the States has to jump through more hoops than that . . . .

Yes, you are alone in your concern.
