Visa

Are you suggesting that I have to pay $100 to enter Turkey or on enterance to Turkey?

ira Sep 3rd, 2003 06:31 AM

Hi

I didn't suggest it. I think it is the Turkish gov't that did.

Yes, it does cost $100 to get a Visa to visit Turkey and so far as I know there is no way around it, even if you only want to do a day trip by boat from one of the Greek Isles. I believe this was done to match the price that Turks have to pay for a US visa.

Yes, unfortunately. This was done in response to the US requiring $100 for Turkish citizens to get a US visa.

This past April I entered Turkey through the port of Kusadasi for a half day excursion to Ephesus. The cruise ship charged me 60 euro total for the excursion which included transportation to and from and a local guide.

Jimar -

You've asked a LOT of questions here. Do you have a guidebook(s) yet? If not, you should get one! Either way, there is tons of basic information available right here in the Destinations section for Turkey, including:

http://www.fodors.com/miniguides/mgr...on=istanbul@77

Also on the Frommers site:
http://www.frommers.com/destinations/turkey/

And plenty of others.

as to the price of a visa in Turkey, I am going for 3 weeks on Oct 12 out of Canada and it will be $45.00 us dollars i am told.. so I got it ready..

All the government info I have is that it's $100 US for Americans and slightly less ($65) for Brits/commonwealth citizens. My DH is a Canadian, so he falls into that category. Good luck.

"slightly less ($65) for Brits/commonwealth citizens."

Free on arrival forNew Zealanders.

Visa to enter USA for Polish. Application cost is $100. No refunds. Visa is no cost if granted. Visa may be from 1 entry to multiple entries for ten years. Very few applicants are successful.

I just returned from 2 weeks in Turkey and upon arrival at the Istanbul airport had to pay $100 US DOLLARS CASH for a Visa.
