(LOVE the title)

Others have given you good info re baby cots and bulkhead seats. But I noticed the "On the off chance we're able to go without checking luggage (that's what we're hoping anyway) " bit.

I hope you realize Virgin has a very strict cabin allowance - 6 kilos it is and more than that will be checked. I pack VERY light (in fact, I teach a packing course at the local community college) -- but I have to check my small rollaboard on Virgin (and BA). Since your carry-on probably weighs at least 5 lbs empty that would only leave you 8 lbs or less for all your packed clothing and accessories.

Wow, such interest in the title. LOL

Janis, thanks for the info about the weights for carry on. I think I'm warming to the idea of checking luggage, since it may be impossible to get it all in carryon. When I have flown Air France and Alitalia, I've usually gone over the weight limits but they never bothered us since it was our only bag each and the bag itself was within the size limits. But from what I've read here, Virgin and BA are much much much stricter and really will make us check it. So we'll see.

But thanks,
Kat

Bringing this one to the top again-both for the fun heading and a follow-up question.

Are the bulkhead seats only offered to those with "infants" or will small children work too? My daughter is three. I'm also hoping to get in this area to give my tall husband room to sit. We'll be flying BA.

IME bulkheads are only allocated to pax with huge amounts of that airline's freq. flyer miles. Of course exit rows are entirely out.

Be verrrry pleasant at the check-in and they may let you roll on/roll off with your walker. But if it's their policy that it's in the hold -- well, can't argue.

Friends have done just fine way back in economy with active ankle-biters; according to them, the secret is 'dozens upon dozens of distractions.....'

Finally don't obsess about it -- you will have a great trip notwithstanding.
