Virgin Atlantic Premium Economy Rocks!

I tried this as a switch from Delta's pathetic Economy Comfort and it was terrific. The food was better, service friendlier, seats more comfortable, entertainment choices almost dizzying, and the whole experience made flying to and from London one of the best transatlantic flights I had that wasn't Business Class. On the return I had a bulkhead seat which gave me even more legroom. I was at first concerned that being near the galley might be disruptive, but it actually made service faster and I got to chat with the lovely married couple working that galley, Sophia and Jose. They were exemplary, funny, attentive, and made the hours whizz by. I couldn't have asked for an easier flight and I wish VA flew more routes that I used. Premium Economy on VA really is a whole separate class and you feel it from the moment you get on board. Well worth the extra expense.

Good to know - thanks for the tip!

Glad you had a wonderful experience.

I absolutely agree - it IS a fair amount more money but I'm not a good flyer and Premium Economy definitely makes things easier for me in several ways.
We also like the way your bags come off the plane quicker so we can go and pick up the rental car and be on our way fast. We've thought carefully about it and decided it really is worth the extra - to us anyway.
Trouble is, once you experience VA Premium Economy you don't want to go back to the cheap seats!

Two questions: (1) does the 1836 in your screen name indicate your birth year? If so, congratulations.

(2) Doesn't a rocking plane get somewhat scary?

In seriousness, Virgin is far preferable to the nameless AAirline with which I have most of my frequent flyer miles.

Not to put a dampner on this, because I am also a fan of Virgin Atlantic, but do they not code-share with Delta?

I believe they do code-share with Delta. So far we have had Virgin's planes in and out of London but we fly D.C., NYC or Boston. Would a flight London-Atlanta most likely be Delta service? Not sure.

I'm another enthusiastic user of their premium economy service. We fly with them about twice a year. The luggage allowance is a big plus because we always buy clothes in the States.

We also love Virgin-Atlantic's Premium Economy and also are huge fans of their daytime flights to London from US East coast.

I fly SFO to LHR and, though expensive even with mileage, I much prefer Premium Economy Virgin or Economy Plus BA than those American airlines I have experienced. And you get current London newspapers dished out right after you board!! Well worth it!

<<Would a flight London-Atlanta most likely be Delta service? Not sure.>> From the end of October, there will be a flight operated by Virgin as well as the DL operated flights.
