Vilnius - Riga- Tallinn- Helsinki

My mom and I are going from Vilnius to Riga to Tallinn to Helsinki this august. To get from Vilnius to Riga, we were planning on taking a bus on a saturday between 1600 and 1800.
Should we get our bus tickets now, wait until we get to Vilnius, or wait until we're ready to go? (We'd like to play it by ear and buy the tickets exactly when we want to leave, but want to make sure this is not a problem).

To get from Riga to Tallinn, we were also planning to take a bus on a wednesday at around 1800. Same question as before..should we buy tickets in advanced?

To get from Tallinn to Helsinki, we are taking a ferry on a saturday morning (between 8 and 12). We'd prefer to get on the faster ferries because we only have one day in Helsinki. Should we buy our ticket in advanced? Now? Once we get to Tallinn? Right when we want to leave?

We did this trip in reverse. Got our tickets the day before we left each city. Busses can fill up and we used Eurolines. Good information/download on this site for all of the cities you are visiting. Richard www.eurolines.com www.inyourpocket.com

We did this trip last year with the exception of visiting Riga (which, in hindsite, we should have included). We didn't take bus, however, but flew between the cities - if flying is an option, look at either Baltic Air and/or Finn Air - great service on both. You're in for a great trip! ENJOY!

It was a great trip!
For anyone reading this with a similar question:
After going on this trip, I would recommend taking a bus. Eurolines was very nice and convenient. We ended up buying the ticket from Vilnius to Riga a few days before we were leaving Vilnius, and we had no problem getting the bus time we wanted, because by then we had an idea of when we wanted to leave. From Riga to Tallinn, we got the ticket online before we left on the trip. After being there we wanted to leave in the morning, not the night which we bought the ticket for, so we had to change our ticket. We could not get a refund, and the best time for leaving was booked so we had to go with the second best time. From Tallinn to Helsinki, we booked the ferry 2 days before we intended to take the ferry and had no problem.
Overall, I recommend not booking buses until about 2 days before you intend to take the bus or until you have a clear idea of when you want move from city to city. (The amount of time people can spend in each cities varies, so you really won't know until you get there!)
