Villeneuve-les-Avignon good base or not

We plan to visit Provence and having no luck with our first choices for house rental. Looking at an apartment in Villeneuve-les-Avignon. Assuming we travel to Luberon,Aix,St. Remy, Arles, will we experience the same traffic problems I've read about getting into and out of Avignon? I assume we have to go over a bridge to Avignon but don't know if the slow traffic I've read about in avignong is one the bridges, in the city, etc? Anyone have experience? Thank you.

I think it's a great base b/c you can avoid the traffic and parking problems in Avignon. I don't remember any difficulty on the bridge. It's a charming little village.

I stayed there for 17 days and loved it. I had no car. I either walked across the bridge, took the boat, or the bus that stpos in front of the fountain. I forget the number of the bus. And the boat leaves from near the tower. You shouldn't have problems getting in and out. There is one of the best flea markets in that village.

THank you so much for opening up our options. I was getting a little nervous. I presume the bridge from Villenueve must lead to a bypass road so you avoid downtown Avignon?
