Villa Mazarin - Paris

Any information on this hotel would be appreciated. I have already done a search here and checked trip advisor. I am looking for a hotel for next July in the Marais area for between $200 and $275 per night.

We stayed there and liked it but not enough to return. There are really no public rooms to speak of. A desk in the hallway to check you in and out, etc. A small sitting area in an open to the elements courtyard. Rooms were nice and nicely appointed. Good shower. If you want breakfast, it must be served in your room because there is no breakfast room. OTOH, there are plenty of cafes nearby. It's right across the street from one of the Paris Department stores which in turn is across the street from the Hotel de Ville. There is a nice square about 2 blocks away that has trees and is surrounded by restaurants, some pretty good, or at least one. Across the street from it is another open square where they hold a street market one or two days a week.

It's well located, near the hotel de ville metro stop. To see pix go on parisby.com and look for 3 or 4 star hotels in Marais area. I actually thought the price was higher than what you're talking about, maybe more like 200+ Euros, rather than dollars per night. Double check.

Bottom line: It's a nice hotel but lacks the feel of a hotel. More like an apartment in a building with a security system. Depends on what you want.

Thanks for the reply julievikmanis. I am more concerned about location and a decent, quiet room rather than public areas.

Location is great and we never had any problems with noise. We liked our room just fine. If the price is right in July (I would expect it to be higher), go for it.
